Days 38 & 39 of Les Mills Pump

Days 38 and 39 of 120 Days of Les Mills Pump are officially completed.

Yesterday’s workout was Pump and Shred. I kind of listened to the doctor and cut out the lunges. I still did the squats just did them with half the weight on the bar as normal and didn’t dig as deep as normal. Modified the plank track and just held plank while they were doing the planks with alternating arm circles. The whole splint thing made those impossible to do.

Hard Core Abs as well as Flow were on the calendar for today. Both went well. The splint is off my hand so I was able to give the alternating push up planks a go. I got a few sets in before it started to hurt my hand, once that happened I held plank. I just can’t wait for this knuckle to heal up so I can get back to doing things properly. Flow went well.  Did not have to modify anything but did not feel as stretched out and loose as i normally do after completing the practice.  Probably because I am a genius that decided that eating spicy Thai soup 20 minutes before abs and yoga was a great idea. Those down dogs were spicy. Not in a good way either. The heartburn is still haunting me!

It was nice being able to workout during daylight hours today though! Housework and things like that were passed on so i could head down while Mr. Baby napped. No biggie, there is always tomorrow. It surely is not happening tonight.  Tonight was Fall Fest at Emma’s school and wearing Mr. Baby around pooped me out!

Phase One of Les Mills Pump is officially completed. Tomorrow is the beginning of Phase Two. Phase Two really steps things up. No more Pump and Burn with the exception of 1 day that it is paired with Hard Core Abs, no more 30 minute workout days. Hoping that Phase Two revs up the results. Honestly there are no complaints to be made as far as results go as of yet. Was losing on average 1.35 pounds per week. Not too shabby if i do say so myself.

Today’s workout was Hard Core Abs along with a 45 minute walk. Opted for the 45 minute walk today. Most of the day was fairly rough. Woke up feeling terrible and had some sulfur esque issues. Most of the day was wasted in bed. I am positive that it was due to my poor food choices yesterday. Lesson learned. Sure indulging in something within reason is not a terrible thing to do. But overindulgence is not good.

Day 30 Progress Report (Weigh in)

30 days down and 90 days to go! 90 sounds so much better than 120, that is for sure. Today’s workout was Hard Core Abs as well as a 45 minute walk.  Hard Core Abs went well. I gave the planks a try and got a few in before my hand was telling me that it was a bad idea. At that point it was taken down to a plain old regular plank resting on my forearms. At least I tried! The the 45 minute walk I hopped on the treadmill. I warmed up, then jogged until my knee was mad at me then walked briskly until I did a cool down. Was able to go at 6 mph for a mile and a half before slowing it down. That is actually pretty good for me lately. The old creaky knee likes to give me a hard time. I really wish I could go that long outside without having to pace it back to a power walk.

So today was the day to weigh and measure myself to see where I stand after these first 30 days. I was actually quite pleased with what the scale and measuring tape had to say. As far as the progress pictures go it doesn’t look like there was any change. I think I have a bit before any results obviously show.

So I suppose a goal should be set for the next 30 days. I think I will stick with 5 and 5. 5 more pounds and 5 more inches. Got to keep it realistic.

I feel like I have done this before..

Back to Day 25 today. Now that there is more feeling in my thigh balance and form are not as much of a problem. Granted there are still issues and the workout was not exactly comfortable, could be worse though. No workout could have happened.

Today’s scheduled workout was Hard Core Abs along with a 45 minute walk. Hard Core Abs went well, a tad bit harder than normal. Possibly due to the fact that I have skipped workouts this past week and that took its toll. In place of the 34 minute walk I did 35 minutes of low impact aerobics. Started to feel quite imbalanced so I skipped the last 5 minutes and went straight to the cool down. It was possible to push through it but I didn’t. It is not as easy to push through things when you have medical issues. In no way am I disappointed in the workout and it definitely got my heart rate up and a good sweat going.

So it looks like I am back in action! Just in time for the RunScreamRun 5k on Saturday. Definitely just power walking through this one. Dr didn’t give me the go ahead to try running. no matter what it will be a ton of fun and I am very much looking forward to my 3 mile power walk.

Food wise I am still on target. Eating clean, taking in 1,700 cals a day and drinking LOTS of water.

Time to make dinner and put together my costume for Saturday. Hope everyone has had a terrific Thursday!

Day 21 In the Bag

I am sure you figured it out by the title that today was day 21. So there are 99 days left to go and 9 days until I weigh and measure in. Kind of feeling torn about that, I am excited to see how I have progressed but am a little scared that I haven’t. There should be no way that I have not made any progress. But weigh ins always give me a bit of anxiety. That is why I choose to do it monthly instead of weekly.

Today’s scheduled workout was Hard Core Abs along with a 45 minute walk. I still feel like I am struggling with form with those plank to push-up thingies but I am at least conscious of my mistakes so it will be easier to work my way to getting them down. As far as the 45 minute walk i choose to do something else. It seems I always choose to do something else. The thought of a 45 minute walk kind of bores me and seems unchallenging. The 45 minute walk was replaced with a 5 milk walk video. It is a combination of walking, jogging, aerobics and resistance band training. Even during the resistance bend miles you are still moving. I did the entire 5 miles plus warm up and cool down so it equaled out to 75 minutes of cardio. Whew! I am tired now! It was a fun video. It was the Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home – 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk. Quite an enjoyable workout! The 75 minutes goes shockingly fast.

As far as food intake that is still going pretty well. I went a little over calorie wise today due to too many nuts but it wasn’t junk food so no need to feel guilty or beat myself up. It was worth it. I wanted a brownie and ate those instead. Good trade-off I think 🙂

Day 18 of 120 FINITO!

Actually I finished the workout a couple of hours ago, been working on homework with Emma since. I would have never thought that in the Second Grade a child would get as much homework as she does. It is crazy!!

This afternoon while Ian napped I went to lunch with my Mother-In-Law. It is always nice to get a chance to catch up. Also had to break down Ian’s schedule. Her and my FIL are postponing their trip back to their winter home to watch the kids while I am fulfilling my Matron of Honor Duties. This will be the first time anyone other than myself or my husband has had Ian overnight. CRAZY! A friend of mine is coming to stay at the house to watch my zoo. She is bringing her dog so Tico should have a blast. he loves little dogs. Anyhow back to lunch, even though we were out I ate healthy, a steak, salad and sweet potato (sans the sugar) and washed it down with some lemon water. She wanted Olive garden but was nice enough to not take me to the sweet, sweet land of cream sauces, white pasta and delicious breadsticks as far as the eye can see. Good thing too given my hormones are a raging I would’ve given in and eaten all the breadsticks in the place! I love me some Olive Garden breadsticks!

Today’s scheduled workout was a combination of Hard Core Abs and Flow. Still feeling like my form is bad during the planks. I definitely need to invest in a mirror. It could be correct and I just feel awkward because I am in terrible shape right now. Who knows? All in all it was a productive workout and I feel good about it. Tomorrow is a rest day so there may not be a new blog. We will see. Happy Thursday all! 

 

 

Halfway Through Phase 1

Day 15 of 120 completed, 105 days to go!

Today’s workout was Pump and Burn. I was able to up my weight during the squat track as well as the Back and Leg track. The Back and Leg track was just on the borderline of too intense. So next time I am going to stick with the beginners weight for a little bit longer or get some smaller plates so I can add weight but just add less. 

A friend may stop by later and do some Hard Core Abs so there may be a little extra workout squeezed in later. We will see what the remainder of the day brings. I’m thinking I should go find some headbands. My new haircut doesn’t allow for all my hair to go up in a ponytail anymore.

Day 14 of 120 Completed!

It is a bit late but day 14 is finally finished. We had another busy day! Today we had our family photos taken, I did not want to workout before they were done this evening because I didn’t want to have to rewash and reset my hair beforehand. So when we got home we had a late dinner, got the kids off to bed, then watched Dexter. That was a must it was quite the finale. Very sad, but it wrapped things up really well. After 7 years of watching Dexter it will be strange not to ever have new episodes. Anyhow after watching Dexter I headed down to the basement and completed Day 14’s scheduled workout. Hard Core Abs along with a 45 minute walk. I am officially pooped out and ready for bed!

Oh and I am definitely back on the wagon food wise. Ate clean today and chugged down some extra water. I still always feel thirsty so finding a way to get more water in without feeling like I had too much is a must. Right now I am getting about 80 ounces of water in a day. Why am a still freaking thirsty??

1/3 of Phase 1 done! Day 10 of 120

Okay, I am a third of the way through Les Mills Pump’s phase 1. It may not sound like much but I am happy with it.

Today’s workout consisted of Pump Challenge as well as Hard Core Abs. To replace Hard Core Abs I picked another random workout, it was a Cathe abs DVD. It works, the new copy of Hard Core Abs Should be here on Monday afternoon so by the time that particular workout comes up again.  Then the system will once again be complete and it can be done properly.

Today was quite the day and that is why this post is so late. At least the workout happened and my meals were on target. Emma and I also made a chocolate chess pie for Pat’s birthday tomorrow. It isn’t exactly health food but I was able to clean it up a bit. Got rid of the processed ingredients and knocked it down from 392 calories a serving to 302, 35 carbs to 18, 26 grams of fat to 24, 33 grams of sodium to 14 and 14 grams of sugar to 4. Not too shabby.  I will post a pic and the recipe tomorrow. it’s late and I don’t feel like doing it right now. bedtime is calling my name. Mr Baby will probably get me up at 4/4:30 and I have to get Emma up for school at 6. Bleh, one of these days maybe I will learn to be a morning person and give up my night owl ways.. But probably not!

Day 6 of 120

Finally finished with today’s workout.  I am a bit disappointed in it though. My copy of Hard Core Abs is MIA so I borrowed a couple ab DVDs from a friend. First I tried her Insanity Insane Abs. The DVD must have been bootlegged, the system was bought off of a guy on Craigslist. After a quick search on the Beachbody threads they said the bootleg Amazon, Craigslist and Ebay copies are often like that and the buyers never know until they try them.  It just skipped all over the place and never actually got to an actual workout. So I popped in a copy of Crunch Abs. It was alright. There was quite of bit of cardio and focus on squats and lunges, so I was getting annoyed. Finally after a while she started on actual ab work and that was good. I just honestly feel like I wasted a bunch of time on fast forwarding through a DVD that was no good and did a bunch of aerobics. Hard Core Abs killed me especially in the beginning of the program and I guess I just expect that.

I had contacted my Beachbody Coach and she could not help me get a new copy of Hard Core Abs but gave me a contact number and email to try to hopefully get help. So after contacting them I was told they DO NOT sell any of the DVDs that come with the Les Mills Pump kits separately and I would have to repurchase the entire system. I already spent $300 on the Les Mills Pump kit along with the Les Mills Pump Extreme add-on. No way I am spending that again for one single DVD. After a few emails back and forth and a few debates they offered to replace it for me if I found my receipt. UGH!!  The system was purchased in February of 2012! I knew I didn’t have it and it more than likely was destroyed in the basement flood. Anyhow after a ton of waiting on hold and emails I found a rep who was willing to look up the order numbers and all that for me! Yay for nice people! After I had the information the people I spoke to before said they would replace it this once for FREE! But never replace part of the system for me again. That’s fine with me. So hopefully it will be here soon and I can do the actual workout I should be doing. YAY!
