Day 30 Progress Report (Weigh in)

lmp day 30

30 days down and 90 days to go! 90 sounds so much better than 120, that is for sure. Today’s workout was Hard Core Abs as well as a 45 minute walk.  Hard Core Abs went well. I gave the planks a try and got a few in before my hand was telling me that it was a bad idea. At that point it was taken down to a plain old regular plank resting on my forearms. At least I tried! The the 45 minute walk I hopped on the treadmill. I warmed up, then jogged until my knee was mad at me then walked briskly until I did a cool down. Was able to go at 6 mph for a mile and a half before slowing it down. That is actually pretty good for me lately. The old creaky knee likes to give me a hard time. I really wish I could go that long outside without having to pace it back to a power walk.

So today was the day to weigh and measure myself to see where I stand after these first 30 days. I was actually quite pleased with what the scale and measuring tape had to say. As far as the progress pictures go it doesn’t look like there was any change. I think I have a bit before any results obviously show.

I Am Not Graceful!

So yesterday was Day 26 of 120. My workout went really well and my leg was doing much better. Still a little tingly but I had regained feeling. Actually getting a quality workout was very pleasing!

Last night when getting ready to leave town for the race the following morning my babysitter showed up and was not looking good. We could just tell his sugars were through the roof and we had to get him to the er. Trip delayed and had to frantically find new sitters for the kids. so glad we did though he is now in the ICU and should have went into a diabetic coma but miraculously did not. His sugars were over 1000! We are worried about him but know he is in good hands. Thank goodness for small miracles. And for my awesome friends who filled in and helped get things done and my babies taken care up.

Today was race day and Day 27. I decided to switch today’s workout with a cardio day seeing I had RunScreamRun to do. It was a blast. Ran into an old friend and we got to do it together, it was so nice catching up!

After arriving home I decided to take a nap. boy was I tired! after that I had to take care of our new shipment of crickets for Sally. While in the basement I bumped my hand on the side of an aquarium and gashed my hand open without realizing it. It only hurt for a second and I never looked at it, just kept doing what I needed to do. After about 5 minutes I then realized that I was bleeding profusely and the cut was deep. Ended up having to find a sitter and headed into the emergency room. ended up with two stitches. It is right at the knuckle so I am having a hard time closing my hands. Really hoping tomorrow I can move it more because otherwise workouts will have to be done with no weights. If it isn’t one thing it is another!!!

lmp day 25

I feel like I have done this before..

Back to Day 25 today. Now that there is more feeling in my thigh balance and form are not as much of a problem. Granted there are still issues and the workout was not exactly comfortable, could be worse though. No workout could have happened.

Today’s scheduled workout was Hard Core Abs along with a 45 minute walk. Hard Core Abs went well, a tad bit harder than normal. Possibly due to the fact that I have skipped workouts this past week and that took its toll. In place of the 34 minute walk I did 35 minutes of low impact aerobics. Started to feel quite imbalanced so I skipped the last 5 minutes and went straight to the cool down. It was possible to push through it but I didn’t. It is not as easy to push through things when you have medical issues. In no way am I disappointed in the workout and it definitely got my heart rate up and a good sweat going.

So it looks like I am back in action! Just in time for the RunScreamRun 5k on Saturday. Definitely just power walking through this one. Dr didn’t give me the go ahead to try running. no matter what it will be a ton of fun and I am very much looking forward to my 3 mile power walk.

Food wise I am still on target. Eating clean, taking in 1,700 cals a day and drinking LOTS of water.

Time to make dinner and put together my costume for Saturday. Hope everyone has had a terrific Thursday!

Starting From Scratch

Managing time, events, a newborn, a seven-year old, nursing, and constant migraines as well as fybro flares has been quite a challenge.  It took almost 5 months but it seems as though things are back on track. I wish I was one of those moms that get back to it and life goes back to normal in a month or two after baby. Let’s just say I am far from that. Yay for being a cripple, HAHA!

We have went back to clean eating. Eased into it this time instead of going all out and replaced things bit by bit until it started to become routine. For far too long we ate take-out, went out, had delivery or frozen foods. Now I just have to once again teach myself how to eat often once again. I have little to no appetite until dinnertime is around the corner. Working on that. I’ll get there soon enough. Baby steps I suppose.

My basement is FINALLY fully functional as of this past week. I have lights, power (not enough outlets but hey, I can make do), new carpet and my workout area set back up.  I did get quite the shock trying to hook things up with very little lighting down there. My eyelid twitched for a day but no harm was done.  As far as using the basement, I have been.

As of this past week I started working out daily again.  Just some cardio, yoga and toning stuff. Nothing major or really that challenging. I am certainly in TERRIBLE shape! No flexibility, most of my strength is gone my stamina is shot. But starting from scratch is nothing new to me. I did it before so it wouldn’t be impossible to do it once again.

In October I am doing the Run Scream Run 5k in Ypsi. I am cutting it close. Running has not been part of my life since last summer. I have tried to run but even getting to a jog is killing my calves. Not sure if it is the fybro or being overweight, a combination of both or something entirely different. I ordered some compression sleeves and when they get here we will see how things feel. If that doesn’t help back to the doctors. Doctors love people like me, people like me get them RICH! The plan is to run or at least jog as mush of the 5k as possible and if I can’t do it for the entire 5k I will power-walk to the finish.

Today was a free day after a week of workouts. Sunday never feels like the beginning of the week, Mondays do. So as of tomorrow I will be starting Les Mills Pump at day one. The plan is to log my workouts here on WP daily. I do not plan to post on rest days. I did not weigh or measure as of yet. But I will get to that soon.

Tomorrow is the Big Race!

Today marks the last day before I become zombie bait! I can’t wait! I am a little scared because the announced that there will be a huge hill to climb as well as rounds of steep stairs to maneuver while being chased by the zombies. So I am sitting here eating my yogurt and wondering. “Am I really ready for this?” Hell no! I am not ready for this race! If I were to be running the entire thing I would die! But I know I can handle a mix of walking and jogging and the doctor has given me the okay to do it

The dreaded hill!

I already stated before that the race is not 3.1 miles but 3.5. They announced the huge hill and stairs the other day. And today it was officially announced that there will be 1,140 runners and 443 zombies. That is a lot of zombies per survivor. Let’s say goodbye to my life strips now! Even though the stats are a bit intimidating and I know my strips will be all gone and I will be deemed a zombie at the end I am really looking forward to this. My friends will be there and it is going to be a blast no matter what. I am excited to see how everyone does.

Afterwards there is a awards ceremony, costume contest and concert at the finish. Of course beverages for those who can have them. I think I will bring a thermos of hot tea. I hear fetuses don’t care for beer so much. LOL. I am totally kidding. I know they don’t!

The race shorts are pretty friggin’ sweet!

Today I HAVE to find some running pants and a sweat shirt that will fit me properly. I am kind of kicking myself in the butt for not keeping any of my larger sized clothes from my weight loss. But, their presence could have been a crutch that would make it okay to gain once again. I really can’t say anything bad about my gain now. It’s just what happens when you grow humans. Can’r forget to get batteries for the headlamps either! Can’t race without a flashlight or headlamp.

We are leaving town early in the a.m. and we are all meeting up for breakfast and driving down. There will be plenty of time to grab lunch in GR, check into our hotel, check out the area and head to registration for bib/shirt pick up. I will not be blogging tomorrow but you can look forward to reading all about it after I am back in town.

Have a fantastic Friday and a Super Saturday! Wish me luck! I may not be the best there but I will try my best!

Have a Haunted Halloween Weekend!

I’m Zombie Bait – The Zombie Dash Grand Rapids, MI

Only four days left until The Zombie Dash! Being given the okay to participate by the doctor made me happy, but actually running this race is not going to happen. That is my restriction. No running, a brisk walk or leisurely jog is all that is allowed. So, let’s just say my time will be embarrassing, but it is okay. Honestly I am far from ready to full on run anything. Over the past few months being sick and sedentary has been my thing. I am just happy that I can participate and do something other than sit around and moan and groan.

We registered before the pregnancy and everyone has been so excited to do this. Other than working on our running we have done the fun stuff to prepare. Rooms are booked, we are about set to hit the road, and tutus are made. For this race I choose to do camo colors. Seems suiting for trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. The girls came over and we had dinner, snacks and I introduced everyone to the art of tutu making. It made for a fun night. Of course we had a Walking Dead marathon playing in the background to get us in the survivor spirit.

Want to make your own running tutu? Check out my tutorial! Click here for tutu making fun: Fluffy Runner’s No-Sew Tutorial

Team Zombie Bait rocking our tutus! Don’t mind our dinner and snack mess , pretend you can’t see my kitchen 🙂

Today, I am going to do some more walking to prep myself for Saturday, we will have an hour to clear the course and it is a bit over a 5k, 3.5 miles to be exact. So even if I walked the entire thing without a jog (I will jog some though) I can make it through. All of the girls are going to stick with me so we will all be pokey together. It is going to be so much fun. The zombies will get out life strips and make us zombie bait!

The Color Run Ypsilanti, MI Recap

They call it The Happiest 5K on the planet. I would like to say they yes, in fact it is. Granted it is not a balls-to-the-wall run your heart out 5K but a frolic and skip kind of 5K.

As my regular reads know I came across The Color Run quite some time ago and decided that would be my first 5K and that I was determined to rock it. I had no idea that it would be so laid back, that in turn was a good thing because I bummed my knee and couldn’t do much running come race day. I ran, walked, skipped and rolled around on the ground and left dirtier than I ever had been in my entire 31 (not so long) years on this planet. The experience was one of a kind and I felt like a little kid, with the stupid grin on my face and all.

What is the appeal? Honestly, for me, it looked fun. why I don’t know. People were confused that I would pay to get doused in colored cornstarch and pay to run. I liked the whole whimsy of it, the fact that I never let go and get too dirty. Except in the garden, but that is different and less like prancing through a rainbow. All that I know is that it was a blast and they announced The Color Run is to be held again in Ypsi next July so I am there!

The premise of The Color Run is to show up in white and get doused with color at each checkpoint. Then after they have a gathering of 15,000 of your closest friends where they play music, have contests and everyone throws their color packets in the air all at once.

All in all Ypsilanti, MI did a great job hosting the run, even with the short notice that was given. The Color Run was originally supposed to be held in Ann Arbor, MI but for some reason it was moved. I heard that it was a permit issue as well as the fact that is the weekend of Ann Arbor’s Art Fair. Either way they did a bang up job and kudos to Ypsi!

We have arrived and are settled in. I have been up for the past 33 hours. I think its nap time. Otherwise I will be useless when it comes to running tomorrow or socializing tonight.

My DH doesn’t seem to happy with me running on these mountain roads. He thinks I’ll be squished like a pancake. Wish me luck! I don’t want to get squished! LOL!

First Round 1 Thursday Weigh in & Vacation Workout Plan

To commemorate the end of Week 1 of Round 2 of Les Mills Pump today I weigh and measure in. This week was a rough week so my workouts were not on PAR I missed a workout and two I only did my basic Pump portion. I did make up for it by doing a billion loads of wash and purging the house of a bunch of unneeded clothing so they could go to others who are in need. I have 4 bags ready to go and will have 4 more by tomorrow.

I leave for vacation on Sunday. Gozzer Ranch here we come 🙂 My Mother in Law emailed me and had me send her my “diet” aka just how I eat now so I can’t call it a diet anymore, and is graciously providing me with the foods that I need. So food won’t be an issue, I am  glad not to have to worry about that. As far as workouts go, I think I will take my Jillian Michaels Yoga meltdown and Les Mills Pump Hard Core Abs just in case finding someone to watch Emma does not work out. I can lock my self in a bedroom and do those and Yoga Meltdown offers challenging body weight exercises. The boys will golf early mornings so my runs are out in the a.m. So after dark is when those will have to happen. Yes, I will have cocktails in me but it’s all good. It is a vacation right? I want to try to get three runs in while I am there, for 7 days I figure that will not be so bad. I will be gone 9 but will be in Idaho for 7. I plan to blog a little while I am there but am making no promises. I do not want to take my lap top and I am not sure how the internet on my phone will run. Last year I had voice service but no data there. It is fairly remote so I didn’t really expect it to have data.

So here is what you all came here for:

Drum-roll please…..

  • Chest: 31.0 inches (- 0.5 inches)
  • R Arm: 12 inches (- 0 inches)
  • L  Arm: 12 inches (- 0 inches)
  • Waist: 32 inches (- 0 inches)
  • Hips: 41 inches (- 0 inches)
  • R Thigh: 23.5 inches (- 0 inches)
  • L Thigh: 23.5 inches (- 0 inches)
  • Weight: 163 pounds (-2 pounds)
  • Pant Size: 12
  • BMI: 29.4% (- 0%)

Not to shabby!  Maybe this is marking the end of my plateau!
