BabyGate 2012/13

Hello there readers new and old! I know I have been gone for quite some time now. Things have been crazy with this pregnancy, not so much in a good way. But just so you don’t worry. I am okay and so is baby lovingly named “The Fetus”.

So here is the pregnancy run down:

  • Tomorrow I will be 15 weeks
  • I have the okay to work out within restrictions
  • The due date is April 15, 2013
  • I have been sick as hell
  • Pregnancy with Emma was all fun and games compared to this one
  • This is considered a High Risk Pregnancy

The morning sickness (who am I kidding ALL DAY SICKNESS) has been getting a bit better. I am still sick as hell at night but I am getting some relief during the day. My appetite is coming back more and I am able to eat more healthy fare. It is not clean it yet, but it will be one of these days! After I got the okay to go back to being active I just was not up to it. No point in making me feel worse and making more stress for the baby.

Just recently I had a bacterial infection that is common and usually no big deal but in pregnancy can be bad ie: cause low birth weight, cause miscarriage or early birth. The doc put me on a killer antibiotic that made me so incredible sick and gave me terrible migraines. The antibiotics are done and finally leaving my system and I am feeling so much better. Of course I am now getting mystery fevers. So if it is not one thing it is another. I can still function with the fever bouts so I can totally handle this for now.

The pregnancy is considered high risk due to the fact that I have Reynaud’s phenomenon and Reoccurring Bell’s Palsy. Apparently there is a slight chance that it can affect The Fetus so I now have to see a specialist for all of my ultrasounds. I am not worried so much about that though just because my doctor is very positive that things will be fine and is assuring me that this is precautionary. My D vitamin levels are dangerously low so they have added a 50,000 unit vitamin D pill to my vitamin D regimen. So much D, it is kind of harsh on the stomach. Yay more things to make me feel like I am going to vomit! For the vomiting I have been on Zofran for quite some time now, but we upped the dosage to every 4 hours and that is making a world of difference. Now I just feel like I am going to puke but actually don’t. Not so comfortable for me but it is better that Fetus gets nutrients from what I consume. I really did not want to be drug dependent for the pregnancy. But, sometimes things just can’t go your way and you have to suck it up and put on your big girl panties for the greater good.

I put on 12 lbs so far with this pregnancy, most of it right away then I quit gaining. The doctor thinks that the quick gain was because I went from being very active to sedentary, food was not the issue, you have to keep food in to gain weight from it. She said once I get more active I may lose a little but to keep an eye on loss. She wants me to gain 35 lbs with this pregnancy.

So all in all things have been rough and I did not have anything fun, workout inspired or related, food related or anything that would be something other than me whining about how sick I was. So I choose not to spread my yuckyness all over WP. Things are starting to look up a bit and I hope it continues so I am back.

During the pregnancy I think that I should alter the blog name, Round to Ravishing doesn’t seem to work when I am getting round again! So I am brainstorming to figure out what to do about that. After The Fetus is born I will be back to Round to Ravishing!

Seeing Monday’s are the official start of a new gestational week I will do Belly Picture Mondays, starting tomorrow. I am definitely showing but still in that “cheeseburger” phase.  You know the stage when you are getting bigger but it looks more like you have been splurging on cheeseburgers instead of growing a human inside you? Included in Belly Picture Monday’s I will give example of what size The Fetus is compared to everyday household items and a few quick facts. It should be fun!

Included in the blog will be updates on physical activity/workouts. No weigh or measure in’s though. You are all well aware that my weight will continue to go up as well as my circumference. As my diet improves you can look forward to more healthy food related posts and also information on physical activity during pregnancy. Of course there will still be my usually pointless ramblings too. Like The Zombie Dash this coming Saturday! Of course some Les Mills Pump too!

I really look forward to sharing the remainder of this experience with you all as well as reconnecting with my fellow bloggers! Have a great week and I will see you all tomorrow!!

Week 9 Ultrasound, I will post my other and more current one soon. I am lazy and take forever to scan this stuff!

Back to the Drawing Board

Finally!

It has been too long since good workouts have been a regular part of my daily life. Even though it was due to my bum knee I feel like a lazy bum. The past two days it has been feeling like it is back to normal so I am ready to get started again. It is about time! I have put on a pound this week and that really is getting on my nerves. I have not gained inches in the areas that I measure but I know I have in places that I don’t, this is unacceptable. Now that getting back on track is possible I am starting today.

Where to start is my main question. Round One or Round Two? With it being weeks since working out full force has happened I am thinking Round One but doing the Les Mills Pump ULT cardio workouts on the cardio days and doing yoga on rest days. I seem to recuperate better with yoga, it is relaxing and helps with my aches so it counts as rest in my book. So here I am back to the drawing board at day one. Getting back is exciting but starting over is mildly discouraging. One step at a time though, no need to do something and end up with another bum knee because I decided to go balls to the wall with it.

So here I am Day One of Ninety! Wish me luck!

I should get my Color Run pics from the photo shop today. Can’t wait!

Oh and we can not forget my weigh and measure in. Here  you go!

  • Chest: 31.0 inches (- 0 inches)

First Round 1 Thursday Weigh in & Vacation Workout Plan

To commemorate the end of Week 1 of Round 2 of Les Mills Pump today I weigh and measure in. This week was a rough week so my workouts were not on PAR I missed a workout and two I only did my basic Pump portion. I did make up for it by doing a billion loads of wash and purging the house of a bunch of unneeded clothing so they could go to others who are in need. I have 4 bags ready to go and will have 4 more by tomorrow.

I leave for vacation on Sunday. Gozzer Ranch here we come :) My Mother in Law emailed me and had me send her my “diet” aka just how I eat now so I can’t call it a diet anymore, and is graciously providing me with the foods that I need. So food won’t be an issue, I am  glad not to have to worry about that. As far as workouts go, I think I will take my Jillian Michaels Yoga meltdown and Les Mills Pump Hard Core Abs just in case finding someone to watch Emma does not work out. I can lock my self in a bedroom and do those and Yoga Meltdown offers challenging body weight exercises. The boys will golf early mornings so my runs are out in the a.m. So after dark is when those will have to happen. Yes, I will have cocktails in me but it’s all good. It is a vacation right? I want to try to get three runs in while I am there, for 7 days I figure that will not be so bad. I will be gone 9 but will be in Idaho for 7. I plan to blog a little while I am there but am making no promises. I do not want to take my lap top and I am not sure how the internet on my phone will run. Last year I had voice service but no data there. It is fairly remote so I didn’t really expect it to have data.

So here is what you all came here for:

Drum-roll please…..

  • Chest: 31.0 inches (- 0.5 inches)
  • R Arm: 12 inches (- 0 inches)
  • L  Arm: 12 inches (- 0 inches)
  • Waist: 32 inches (- 0 inches)
  • Hips: 41 inches (- 0 inches)
  • R Thigh: 23.5 inches (- 0 inches)
  • L Thigh: 23.5 inches (- 0 inches)
  • Weight: 163 pounds (-2 pounds)
  • Pant Size: 12
  • BMI: 29.4% (- 0%)

Not to shabby!  Maybe this is marking the end of my plateau!

Today, Today

So, I was Debbie Downer on here yesterday, and everywhere else. I don’t like to air my dirty laundry on the internet so I will just say life sucked yesterday but all is good now. Sometimes things just come to head and explode and dealing can be hard. Everything is taken care of now and I am hoping the issue  does not pop back up.  I really felt guilty for not getting my workout in and I didn’t eat all day or really drink anything either, then later binged on a Culver’s burger, fries and a root beer. Yikes!

To change the pace of the day we went and did some clothing shopping for our upcoming vacation, Emma needed an entire new summer wardrobe due to her last growth spurt. We have to buy her a new wardrobe 4 times a year. Why do kid jeans cost as much as adult jeans? We are going broke :) Anyhow I bought a bunch of bottoms, a top and a dress without trying on because I just didn’t feel like it at the store. So today I need to try it all on and see if anything has to go back and be exchanged. I still need to find a pair of neutral sandals that I like and a jacket. And another pair of sandals for Emma. Fun, fun.

Today the plan is to do a double workout to make up for yesterday (or as much as I can do without killing myself), do the billion loads of laundry that needs to be done to catch up on what we normally wear and the piles and piles of stuff that I need to rewash to donate. I probably have 5 or 6 trash bags of stuff to donate once again. Try on those clothes, eat food and hope to get some time in outside. The wash won’t get completely done today but it needs to be done by Thursday so I can concentrate on getting everything ready for vacation. I’d rather take up the invitation to go sit pool side but I guess being an adult is what I have to do today. Boo-hoo!

On the workout agenda I have: Hard Core Abs, Pump Challenge, Step and a Run. Oh my! I better go get my Pump on.

Benefits of Yoga

Today is Day 4 of Round 2 doing Les Mills Pump. On the agenda today is Flow. Flow is in a nutshell the LMP’s form of Yoga. To be quite frank when I first tried it I was not a fan. i found it to be monotonous and pointless. Honestly, I will chalk it up to my not being familiar with Yoga and my apprehensiveness to try something new. I was already new into the Pump portion to the workout and I think I overwhelmed myself. When Flow came back up on my LMP schedule I did try it again and more open-mindedly I should add. it wasn’t so bad and it was actually enjoyable. Today I have found other forms of Yoga I enjoy and have added more Yoga to my workout schedule. I enjoy the peace, the stretch and so many other things that it brings.

A few of the benefits of Yoga:

  • Improve mental health: Yoga practice is calming. Regular yoga practice can reduce or eliminate the root of anxiety disorders and aid in controlling or decreasing depression and can lead to a more peaceful state helping you gain confidence, mental well-being and the ability to stay calm in more stressful situations.
  • Helps prevent diabetes: All types of exercise including yoga help to stabilize blood glucose. This is important in the prevention and control of diabetes
  • Prevent bone loss and osteoporosis: The low impact Yoga postures can be effective for post-menopausal women and older men in preserving and building bone density.
  • Backache relief and backache healing: I know I have already talked about this in a previous post, But this is one of the best things for my back issues. Yoga goes right to the physical cause of your backache helping you to recognize areas of chronic tension Overall fitness and muscle tone is essential to your spines health. The more aerobic forms of yoga provide your spine oxygen and helps to create flexible hamstrings and hip flexors in hand freeing-up your lower back.
  • Arthritis Prevention: The best preventions and/or relievers of arthritis are motion and exercise. Engaging all of your muscle groups in a yoga practice strengthens bone and improves your coordination and balance. Yoga is a low-impact form of exercise and yoga postures can improve muscle strength, joint flexibility, endurance, as well as range of motion.
  • Detoxification: Many Yoga postures massage the internal organs, this provides a natural form of cleansing which rids the body of toxins.
  • Gained flexibility: Few fitness regimens concentrate as much on flexibility as yoga does. In fact nearly every single movement in yoga can increase your flexibility

There are many other benefits of practicing Yoga also. I suppose I will save those for a later time. I still have house-guests to attend to and my Yoga to get in today, as well as a run after everyone has settled down for the evening. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

LMP Round 2 Phase 1 Schedule

As you all know I have started Round 2 of Les Mills Pump. There is no hybrid Schedule out there that I have found that incorporated Running as well as the Les Mills Pump Ultimate Cross Training workout plans. Using the Round One Phase One Schedule I added the Running, UCT workouts, The Yoga I like to do on rest days to reset myself as well as a couple other things that I just plain enjoy doing. I kept the weight training segment part of the schedule exactly the same as it was before and just switched out the walking days with other things and added runs and other workouts seeing I am at a higher fitness level now and can push myself harder than I could when I started Round 1.  Just to keep myself accountable here is my Round 2 Phase 1 schedule.

PHASE 1: TE WERO: The Challenge

Today is Day two, So….. it is time for me to get my Yoga in and I will run later this evening once it starts to cool down. I have found that I really like running and walking outdoors at night. It is serene. Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend. I have a weekend of house guests again so it should be fun!! I am glad they don’t think it is rude when I disappear on them to work out. I have even gotten some of them to work out with me!

Ohh Yeah! ;)

Day One of Round Two

Today is my first official day of Les Mills Pump Round Two. I decided to take a day off and visit a good friend, go swimming and do other fun stuff instead yesterday. From here on out Tuesday Weigh In’s will be Thursday Weigh In’s. I will weigh and measure in every week just as I did before. I will follow the Les Mills Pump Schedule but switch out the walking days with the Les Mills Pump Ultimate Cross Training and on the rest days I will do a short Yoga session. I will start at Phase One/Day One and will run at least 3 days a week.

In 11 days I leave for our annual vacation, during that period I will pause LMP and continue where I left off when I return. I do not want to fly with a ton of weights in my luggage so taking it with me is not happening. I will find other ways to be active daily while I am there. I am sure there will be some sort of class offered if not I will just go running. There is over a 2000 ft difference in elevation so I am wondering how running will go for me. From a Valley to a Mountain top should be interesting :)

My Day one stats are:

Let’s Do This

  • Chest: 31.5 inches
  • R Arm: 12 inches
  • L  Arm: 12 inches
  • Waist: 32 inches
  • Hips: 41 inches
  • R Thigh: 23.5 inches
  • L Thigh: 23.5 inches
  • Weight: 165 pounds
  • Pant Size: 12
  • BMI: 29.4%

My Goals for Round Two are:

  • Break through this plateau
  • Up my weights by 5 lbs each track
  • Up my endurance
  • Lose another pant size and be at a solid size 10

Wish me luck peeps!

Have a Happy Thursday!

Father’s Day :) (And I wore a bathing suit)

We had a little too much fun last night at Greekfest then home by the fire. Pat is pooped out and napping now. Emma wanted to build a birdhouse with her dad for Father’s Day. She and Pat enjoy feeding and watching the birds together so it was a really thoughtful gift. Who knew a six-year-old would choose a gift because it means something. She is getting so big so fast. She needs to stop. NOW! So here is our Father’s Day run down.

Home Depot bird feeder Kit, it even came with the kid sized tools too! This was found at Toys R Us.

First Pat and I got up and wished we hadn’t stayed up so late last night. Was it worth it? I would say yes!

I start a mean fire :)

Next we picked up Emma and went to lunch at Pat’s favorite Mexican Restaurant.

Emma and Pat at lunch!

Then we returned home and Emma gave him his gift. They sat and built it and enjoyed each other’s company.

Building

All that is left is to paint it… That step will come later.

How cute! They did a great job!

After that I took Emma outside to play in the kiddie pool so Pat could nap in peace and quiet for a bit.

I wore my new bathing suit/swim dress today. I was a little apprehensive about taking a picture but I decided to put on my big girl panties and just do it. It is the first bathing suit that was not from the plus sized section I have bought in years. By next summer I will be thin enough for a bathing suit I am truly happy with. For now I am happy I got to shop out side of the plus sized section.

Allen B. Cinch Front Shirred Bandeau Swim Dress, from JcPenny

it is about time for me to make some dinner and Emma want’s to take her dad out for ice cream tonight after dinner. I will have some pineapple lime no sugar added sorbet. So yummy! Then home for the kiddo’s bedtime and my daily dose of Les Mills Pump.

Finally Friday!

What a crazy week! House guests, bonfires, new workouts, change in diet, dog puking all over my week old carpeting, lunches with friends, lost glasses; you know the usual! So now it is time to get the house back in order and relax before the fun starts again tomorrow!

So far I think the newly added workouts are working. I am sore in places I have not been sore at in a long time. Oh man am I sore! Honestly, it is definitely a good thing. It reminds me that changes are happening. It can be so annoying to constantly hear the phrase ‘No pain, No gain” but it is a true statement. So no whining here. It will be exciting to see what the dreaded measuring tape and scale tell me on Tuesday. Some friends of mine have gym memberships at the new Planet Fitness here in town so I have been tagging along. They have a pretty nice facility. I love how everything is so sparkly and new. Joining may be in my future.  That would give me a chance to mix it up more. At the gym I figured out that some of the machines I no longer remember how to use or just kind of suck at, but that will pass once I get used to it and get comfortable. Having options and variety is never a bad thing. Sticking with Les Mills Pump still for sure, I really do enjoy it and so far it has worked for me. Just a few more days and I will be back on the 90 day schedule. Just have to figure out if I want to start at phase one or phase 2.

Tomorrow is Greekfest so I plan on having a Gyro, some Ouzo and beer. No calamari though, no fried stuff (the fried stuff is so good) I don’t think my body would be happy with me if any of that greasy goodness is eaten anyhow. Junk food messes me up. It isn’t worth the cheat anymore. I just can not process it and it is no fun feeling ill over something I can control.

I hope you all are having a fantastic Friday and have a wonderful weekend. I have cleaning and a workout to accomplish. Then I think the sun is calling my name.
